The vehicles involved in the harassment of barangay officials of Macalaya, Castilla in the early hours of May 9, 2022 ownership per records at the Land Transportation Office revealed that the Mitsubishi Montero with Plate No. NAQ 2284 is registered to a certain Wilma D Bayola of 2534 M. de la Cruz Street, Pasay City on November 2, 2021 while the Toyota Innova bearing Plate No. EAA 9257 is co-owned by Ben-Hur L Rebueno and Lurie J Rebueno of 69 Olbes Street, Doña Maria Subdivision Tagas Daraga Albay.
The apprehension happened when the Castilla MPS responded to an alert by an unidentified person that heavily armed men were seen inside the two vehicles setting up a choking point at Barangay Burabod with an augmentation force resulting in the apprehension of the suspects. Eleven persons were arrested one of them is Orlon L Rebuena alleged to be a first cousin of a mayoralty candidate in the town. The other person of interest is Jesus L Rebueno relationship with the owners of the Toyota Innova.
With them are Christopher B, Juntanar, 45 years old, Danilo M. Balyano Jr. 40, Isidro L. Breches, 39, Anthony V. Reyes, 42 , Ronald L. Lasala, 53 Joselito D. Laroga, 50 Manuel G. Gaton 32 Mike Adrian s. Buaron 29 and Reyan G. Larce. The authorities did not disclose the specific addresses of the suspects.
The barangay treasurer of Macalaya Melanie Segui handbag was forcibly taken but SK chairman Patrick Navas, barangay elder Cristopher Bongais Luna and Dione Jasareno Macarilay, village watchman were subjected to bodily harm.
Multiple charges are facing the eleven arrested persons raging from robbery, harassment, violation of Comelec gun ban, possesions of live ammunitions and bladed weapons. Cash amounting to 129,600 pesos was also recovered.
