A strange move by Vice-President Leni Robredo has enabled her to become “cunningly opportunistic” – running for President or facing off a greenhorn kid for Governorship in Camarines Sur.
Robredo’s “strange move” on Thursday late afternoon in Naga City, Camarines Sur, has kept tongues wagging if she is intent on gunning for the Governorship in the province.
This will keep people guessing for a few more days until she files her candidacy for “what” position.
1SAMBAYAN NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT
On Thursday morning, Robredo was finally endorsed by opposition 1Sambayan as the their standard bearer for President for May 2022 elections.
Her nomination caused waves of approval among supporters in social media.
At the time of her nomination, Robredo was in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
However, she did a strange thing.
On Thursday afternoon, Robredo was at the COMELEC office in Magarao town in late afternoon, that same day of her nomination, allegedly to apply for Transfer of Voter’s registration from Bgy. Tabuco, Naga City, where she has been a voter for several years, to Bgy. Carangcang, Magarao, where she is building a house.
Magarao is only 6 minutes drive from Naga City.
At around 6:20 pm Thursday night, photos of VP Leni outside the Comelec office in Magarao town had spread out on social media.
This fanned public speculation that Leni might be running for Governor, because her transfer to Magarao will legitimize her residency as requirement to run for provincial post.
Her Naga City residency prohibits her to run for provincial post, a prohibition for Naga City being a chartered city that is independent from Camarines Sur Province.
FIGHTING A GREENHORN KID
If she were to run for Governor, Robredo’s opponent is a “kid”, Camarines Sur Provincial Administrator Luigi Villafuerte, the third son of 2nd district Rep. LRay Villafuerte who will enter politics for the first time.
Incumbent Governor Migz Villafuerte is an end-termer, barred for a 4th term.
