The political scene of Castilla, Sorsogon suddenly burst today after Barangay Chairman Alex “Nonong” Sotto of Poblacion announced his intention to challenge for the mayoralty incumbent Mayor Isagani “Bong” Mendoza. The announcement was made in a meet the press witnessed by at least 20 barangay chairmen of the town Thursday,
September 30.
Sotto said that he wants to “share his God-given talents to his townmates” as the primary reason why he will contest the incumbency of Mendoza this May 2022 election.
A businessman before his entry into local politics, the medical technologist graduate envisioned a health care system for the town with a diagnostic facility manned by abled and professional practitioners. He said that he will be a “healing leader.”
Explaining, that divisiveness among Castillanons should be set aside and appealed to his supporters that personal assault has no place in the campaign. Focus on what was done and what was not done, search instead what the community needs. His entrepreneurial background is an advantage to the people of the town with his established friendship with people willing to sink their investment in the town.
