Flyweight boxer Carlo Paalam gave the country its second silver medal in Tokyo 2020 Olympics following a split decision loss to British boxer Gala Yafai in the finals.

Paalam was down late in the first round after a four-shot combo from the Briton but fought aggressively but failed to secure the judges nod in the three rounds event.

With his silver medal the country medal haul at the Tokyo Games stood for a bronze two silver and the gold of Hidilyn Diaz in weightlifting. The bronze was courtesy of Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio delivered the silver in her class and Paalam latest silver.
