The body of a newborn baby was found dead on Wednesday, abandoned inside a public toilet in Labo, Camarines Norte.
According to police, a 25-year-old girl, who was going to use the toilet, discovered the corpse when her purse fell to the floor.
The baby was placed hidden behind the toilet bowl along with the placenta.
Police are already investigating the incident, but they admitted it was difficult for them to identify the mother of the baby.
The dead infant was given final blessing at the church before being buried.
Infanticide cases may be charged on the baby’s parents.
“We call on those who may have seen or known the mother of the said baby to, if possible, work with us together so that she can pay for the crime she committed,” said PCOL Julius Guadamor, provincial director of the Camarines Norte Police Office.
