Omicron variant recorded in Tigaon, Bombon, Camarines Sur

Two cases of Omicron variant were recorded in the towns of Tigaon and Bombon, Camarines Sur.

DOH-Bicol Center for Health Development (CHD) urged the public to still continue to adhere to minimum public health standards amid the New Year celebrations.

As a result of genomic sequencing from the Phil Genome Center (PGC) received by the Bicol Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) Friday, December 31, cases of the Covid-19 Omicron variant have been reported in the Bicol Region.

Bombon Case: Worker From Manila

The first case was a 27-year-old woman from Bombon, Camarine Sur. This is a worker from a private office in Manila. This is close contact of a Covid-19 case.

She was checked on December 14, and the result came out the next day to be positive on the said variant.

The patient was asympotomatic and fully vaccinated by Sinovac. She has recovered so far.

Tigaon Case: No Travel History

The second case was a 46-year-old female staff of a school in Tigaon, Camarine Sur.

She was first tested positive on Delta and on repeated testing, the result came out as positive on Omicron.

She had mild signs of symptoms on November 16, and on December 6, she had recovered.

It was reported she has no travel history in Manila or other countries.

DOH CHD has already contacted local health authorities in Camarines Sur for immediate response, to monitor and identify all close contacts of the two patients up to the third generation of their relatives.
