Many accidents had occurred in this section of a highway in Ocampo, Camarines Sur owing to absence of warning signs and markers.
It is lack of signages on this pot-holed road that sent a female student crashing into the concrete pavement, luckily enough to survive but she sustained serious inquiries.
It is the duty of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to place warning signs and other important signages and markers on the highways.
Returning back home to Tigaon, Camarines Sur, from Legazpi City, Albay, criminology student Cai-cai S. Kuan cruised through Ocampo on Wednesday night, August 4, 2021, and was thrown into the concrete road when her motorcycle fell into a pothole full of water.
She was rescued by Barangay tanods of Barangay San Francisco where the accident happened.
Ironically, the area is where her distant relatives also lived whom she has not met. One is the present mayor and another is a Barangay official.
She was rushed to the hospital and treated for injuries.
Her sister Lyka, in a Facebook post, said Cai-cai has been preparing for board exam.
Netizens, friends and relatives blamed the DPWH, specifically DPWH 3rd District Cam Sur, for not placing signages and warning markers on the pot-hole segments of the highway.
The potholes were aggravated by heavy equipment and trucks from a construction firm based near the accident area.
