Land Transportation Office (LTO) -Sorsogon head Grace Rojas clarified that only motorists with expired or dormant licenses are required to take a practical examination under the Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) when they renew their drivers licenses.

In a related development, a legislator in the House of Representatives filed a resolution wanting LTO to scrap the CDE as “unnecessary”.

Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez dismissed the CDE of the the Department of Transportation – LTO.

He filed House Resouliton No. 2325 and asserted that the said requirement was “unnecessary”, and only added to the suffering of the Filipinos especially in this pandemic.

Meantime, LTO Sorsogon chief Rojas explained that if it is plain license renewal, it is no longer necessary to take exam under CDE, and only the motorist has to pass a written examination.

Rojas believes the said policy is important because it will serve as refresher seminar for drivers.

The said policy is related to 10 year license validity for license holders who have not committed a traffic violation within the five -year period of his license.
