Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte on Thursday ordered 28 towns and Iriga City under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), leaving out the remaining 7 towns under the lesser risk category Modified GCQ.
Villafuerte issued Executive Order No. 12
Series of 2021.
“AN ORDER PLACING TWENTY EIGHT (28) MUNICIPALITIES AND THE CITY OF IRIGA UNDER GENERAL COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (GCQ) WHILE THE REST OF THE MUNICIPALITIES UNDER MODIFIED GENERAL COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (MGCQ); AND ESTABLISHING GUIDELINES FOR THE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF GENERAL COMMUNITY QUARANTINE IN COVERED AREAS.”
Villafuerte’s action was in response to rising incidences of Covid 19, and the emergence of Variants of Concern (VOC) coming from local transmissions.
“Alert Level 2 to Alert 4”
The Department of Health reported on August 28, 2021 that Camarines Sur Province escalated from Alert Level 2 to Alert 4 classification system for COVID-19.
Acccording to Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Bicol COVID-19 Situation Update as of August 28, 2021, twenty four (24) LGUs in the Province of Camarines Sur were classified from high to critical risk, and fifteen (15) LGUs recorded cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOC).
“Alpha, Beta, Delta Variants recorded”
On the Press Release of DOH CHD Bicol on September 8, 2021, a total of fifty (50) cases of COVID-19 VOCs such as Alpha, Beta and Delta variants, have been registered in the Province.
“GCQ from September 16 – 30, 2021”
Considering the serious situation, and with the concurrence of Bicol IATF, the Camarines Sur Provincial Government has placed twenty nine (29) LGUs under GCQ for a period of fifteen (15) days from September 16-30, 2021:
LGUs under GCQ:
- San Jose
- IRIGA CITY
The rest of the municipalities in the Province shall remain under MGCQ.
