PILI, Camarines Sur – Former Pili Camarines Sur councilor Rudel Divinagracia popularly known as “Pay Rudel” was shot by a riding in tandem and pronounced dead on arrival at a private hospital by an attending physician.
Divinagracia ran but lost his bid as vice-mayor and a known political opponent of Mayor Tomas Bongalonta Jr. In 2017 the mayor alleged that Divinagracia was behind the administrative and criminal complaints against him that are politically motivated.
The assailant rode in tandem and waited for the Toyota Innova that Divinagracia was riding after attending an inter-town basketball game in the town proper at around 9 on the evening of November 19, 2022 at Barangay Cadlan ambush Pay Rudel. His death was confirmed by the PNP.
PNP is conducting a follow-up operation and the family of the victim is yet to issue a statement.
