While Friday was supposed to be at the height of PeΓ±afrancia Festival week before the pandemic, and its celebration canceled for the second year due to Covid 19 surge, Naga City in Camarines Sur is reeling over in the spate of surges.

78 more new cases of Covid 19 in a single day were recorded on Friday, September 17, in Naga City.

Six cases among these were tested in private clinics that were not included among the 72 new cases recorded by DOH CHD Bicol.

As of September 16, Naga City has 640 active cases of Covid 19.

Within a 4-day period, from September 11, Saturday, to 14, Tuesday, the City recorded an unusual increased of 318 new cases.

Naga City’s hospital system has a little more than 200 beds capacity, and these shortages have forced the Bicol Medical Center to refuse acceptance of new patients, except only under emergency situation.
