A theft incident in Masbate had led into the senseless, brutal killing of 5 family members on Sunday.
PNP Bicol, led by Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo of Police Regional Office 5, conveyed his condolence to the victims’ relatives.
Estomo vowed speedy investigation, and apprehension of the suspects.
According to reports, Masbate police and village watchmen found couple, Jesus Adigue y Dino, 70, and Adela Cortes y Adigue, 67, bathed in their own blood inside their house in Barangay Tinapian, Baleno, Masbate, at 11 am on August 29, 2021.
Jennifer Adigue y Cortes, 40, a widow, and two minors, 17 and 14, were also found dead.
Authorities rescued an injured 13-year-old girl who was a relative of the dead.
Police investigators suspected Theft as the probable motive for the incident.
In the report, the family were asleep when the 3 suspects entered and took equipment inside the house.
The victims woke up and were stabbed by the suspects.
But, one of the three suspects was immediately identified, while the two other accomplices are hunted down by the police.
The suspect is a 16 years old minor, a resident of the said village.
Police took the young suspect in custody for documentation and disposition.
