The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 5 is proving to be responsive to the public’s need for structures and roads that will elevate the promotion of tourism and agriculture, resulting to better opportunities and services.
DPWH, in the 1st District of Masbate, has completed the concreting of road, junction national road to Sitio Tacdugan, Brgy. Bagahanglad, San Jacinto, Masbate.
The project has a total length of 5.97 km., composed of two-lane road with off-carriageway concrete pavement, drainage and slope protection structure.
Road users will be captivated with the nature’s vibe as the road traverses through agricultural and pasture lands.
This tourism road that starts at Brgy. Sta Rosa, San Jacinto, leads tourists to the famous diving spot, “Manta Bowl”, a Manta Ray sanctuary in Ticao, Burias Pass and to Ticao Island Resort.
“This road will serve as a catalyst in improving the rural economy through tourism and easy & low cost of transportation of agricultural and sea products,” said Masbate 1st District Engineer Elmer R. Redrico.
He added that the travelling public, especially the students and workers, will now have safe and convenient roadway which is a huge improvement, after decades of muddy road.
Aside from tourism and agricultural prospects, the project can be an avenue of wellness and fitness activities such as jogging and biking with must-captured sceneries enticing to photography enthusiasts.
Besides the impressive illumination formed through the installed solar lamps, these lights at night provide safety to travelling public.
“Our topmost priority is the provision of safe and reliable infrastructure facilities for all,” said DPWH Region 5 Regional Director Virgilio C. Eduarte in a recent media interview.
“Apart from the removal of road obstructions, we ensure that our roads have sufficient safety devices and are installed with lighting facilities to avoid the occurrence of road accidents,” he added.
