CASIGURAN, Sorsogon — The latest clearing operation along the national highway involves the removal of boundary markers between municipalities considered as obstructions to the free flow of traffic in the four-lane highway.

The markers between Sorsogon City and the town of Casiguran at Barangay Abuyog and Barangay Boton will be demolished by DPWH this month together with the marker designating the jurisdiction of Casiguran in Lungib from Tughan in Juban.

The markers were constructed in 2000 on a two-lane highway but become unnecessary after the construction of additional lanes where slow-moving vehicles will use the outermost lanes.

Both markers foundations are inside the outermost lane that obstructed traffic and are considered as an “accident waiting to happen” if not corrected.

Other boundary markers are also scheduled for demolition.

Replacing it is on the drawing board where a single marker design non-obstructive to traffic will be constructed provincewide.
