Masbate students scamper for safety after quakes jolt schools

An earthquake in Masbate Province, followed by series of aftershock had sent students scampering outside their schools as the tremors had caused cracks on school buildings.

The earthquake, measured at 4.8 magnitude at about past 9:00 AM, Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022, was felt intensely at Mobo.

At Mobo National High School, Mobo, students were sent home after series of aftershock that caused cracks on concrete structures, with one building suffering damages in its 2nd floor.

This was upon the assessment and recommendation by the Mobo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MMDRRMO).

MMDRRMO is currently undertaking Rapid Damage Assessment following the earthquake and aftershocks, that centered on Mobo.

No farther damages nor injuries were reported as of presstime, except a large crack on a classroom door of Pinamarbuhan Elementary School at Mobo.
