Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara on Monday ordered Legazpi City and Daraga placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) after the areas have suffered spikes of Covid-19 cases in the past few days.
While Legazpi and Daraga are now under GCQ, all the rest of Albay towns and cities are still under Modified GCQ.
The order is effective for 15 days.
Other day, Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal was alarmed over the abnormal spike of Covid 19 cases.
The reclassification to GCQ means stricter implementation of health protocols, heightened monitoring and contact tracing, and restricted movement of people unless going out to buy essential goods for daily living.
Persons under 18 and over 65 are ordered to stay at home.
Private businesses are allowed to open to the public at 50% or 30% occupancy or customer capacity.
