Gubat Sangguniang Bayan passes resolution putting SRP on pork products

Gubat, Sorsogon – The Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Gubat, on Wednesday, November 7 approved a resolution putting a suggested retail price (SRP) on pork products including the farmgate price of live hogs.

SB Resolution No. 294-S-2022 or “A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, REGIONAL FIELD OFFICE NO. 5, TO IMPOSE A SUGGESTED PRICE (SRP) FOR FARMGATE MINIMUM PRICE OF LIVE HOGS AS PER RECOMMENDATION OF THE MUNICIPAL AGRICULTURIST OFFICE AND THE HOG RAISERS ASSOCIATION OF GUBAT”.

The resolution cited the Philippine Statistic Authority’s (PSA), in its Situation Report for the period April to June 2022, the farmgate price of hogs was at Php 181. 90 per kilogram, liveweight.

Data from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Gubat revealed that the farmgate price in the municipality ranges from Php 110.00 to Php 130. 00 kilogram, liveweight. With the current price and situation. It said that only the haulers and retailers are the only ones profiting from the swine industry by purchasing live hogs at a lower price, but selling for as much as Php230. 00 to Php 250. 00 per kilogram

Through consultation with the local government unit of Gubat and all stakeholders, a consensus was reached. The SRP for pork products are as follows;

Live hog (80 kilos and above) – Php 170. 00 per kilo

Live hog (71 kilos to 79 kilos ) – Php 165. 00 per kilo

Live hog (71 kilos to 79 kilos ) – Php 165. 00 per kilo

Live hog (61 kilos to 70 kilos ) – Php160. 00 per kilo

Live hog (Pakal) – Php 100. 00 per kilo

Pork Meat – Php 280. 00 per kilo

SB Resolution No. 294-S-2022 was unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Bayan in their 17th Regular Session.
