Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Sorsogon Province’s 1st District, had completed the renovation of 1,933.75-sq.m. Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium.
During the June 30, 2021 blessing and turnover ceremonies of the gym in Sorsogon City, Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero advised constituents to maintain the grandeur of the gymnasium.
“Bibihira tayo makaranas ng magandang pacilidad na tumatagal at tatagal,” the Governor said.
OIC-District Engineer Merla Reveche, who represented DPWH, turned over the ceremonial key to Governor Chiz and Vice Governor Manuel “Wowo” Fortes, Jr.
The facility, with seating capacity of 1,150, featured an audio-visual control room, an impressive 700.35-sq. m. basketball court, bleachers with double function as storages, collapsible stage, dressing rooms and lockers.
Fifteen (15) air conditioning units were installed beside the rows of energy efficient windows and doors.
Last June, in a spot media interview with DPWH Region 5 Director, during the inauguration of Camalig Bypass Road in Albay Province graced by DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, he said several DPWH projects are lined-up for inauguration in Sorsogon.
He named Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium, Multi-Purpose Building Sorsogon People’s Mansion; and, Sorsogon People’s Building, all located in Sorsogon City.
“With the very visible support of Secretary Villar for the infrastructure progress and development of Bicol Region, we are hoping that he can be with us in the inauguration of the said projects”, RD Virgilio Eduarte said.
