Police and the military recovered a huge arm cache in the forested and mountainous area of Ragay, Camarines Sur on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Found in the area were four (4) units of M16 rifles, with defaced serial numbers; one (1) unit of M14 rifle with serial no. 555097; sixteen (16) cans of IED; detonation wire MOL 30 meters long; two (2) pcs aluminum long magazine for M16 rifle; one (1) pc plastic long magazine for an M16 rifle; 160 pcs live ammunition for cal. 5.56 A2 M16 rifle; one (1) pc. buffer tube with spring for A2 M16 rifle; and one (1) pc. unserviceable handheld radio.
According to a police report, this was the result of extensive intelligence driven operations by the Camarines Sur 1st PMFC together with the troops of 81IB, 71D, PA, 95th MICO, 9MIB, 9ID, 9SAB, SAF, PIU CSPPO, and Ragay MPS.
The recovered firearms were turned over to Camarines Sur Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examinations and comparison with the existing ballistics records available, while the IEDs will be placed under the custody of Camarines Sur PECU for proper disposition.
