Agricultural machinery distributed in Sorsogon

In line with the national government program of the Department of Agriculture the Province of Sorsogon was a recipient of agricultural types of machinery as part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) distributing the Korean-made agricultural implements to selected and qualified beneficiaries from the towns of Castilla, Donsol, Bulan, Gubat, Irosin, Juban, Sta. Magdalena and Sorsogon City.

The recipients are farmer’s cooperatives, associations, irrigators and rice seed growers that receive d four-wheel tractor, precision rice seeder, riding type rice transplanter, recirculating dryer, rice combine harvester, and walk-behind transplanter that will enhance the rice productivity of farmers.

The distribution was witnessed by the agriculture regional officials reminding the m beneficiaries of the proper use though beforehand operators of the units underwent a three-day training conducted by the department technicians on the proper maintenance and operations.

In Irosin town the Gabao Tongdol Farmers Irrigators Association Inc. was awarded a unit of Four- wheel tractor same as the Irosin Market Vendor and Farmers Development Cooperative got a four-wheel tractor, a Precision Rice Seeder, and a rice combine harvester.

While the Gabao Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Development Cooperative received a four-wheel tractor, a riding-type transplanter. They also receive a rice combine harvester and a 6-tonner recirculating dryer.

The Capuy-Basud Multi-Purpose Cooperative was a recipient of a four-wheel tractor, precision rice seeder also a 6-tonner recirculating dryer. The Barangay Penafrancia Farmers Association was handed a four-wheel tractor.

The Provincial Government of Sorsogon was also a recipient of 2 units of Rice Processing System.

According to Attorney Cesar Balmaceda program manager of the 7K Kabuhayan strategy, 32 units were distributed to 22 beneficiaries comprising rural farmers association, rice planters, irrigators, and cooperatives. The provincial government sourced out the agriculture component fund of the Department of Agriculture under RA 11203 under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund Mechanization Component.
