Irosin, Sorsogon Mayor Alfredo “Pidoy” Cielo Memorandum Circular No. 16-2022 declaring a three days holiday for pork meat will take effect November 8, 20222 after the town’s first case of African Swine Fever was detected.

The memorandum prohibits the slaughtering of pigs within the jurisdiction of the Irosin and forbids selling any pork products and buying the said product in public market stalls or in any other means of selling.

The advisory will be enforced starting November 8 until November 11, 2022. From that period the assistance of the National Meat Inspection Services and the local agriculture office will undertake the de-contamination of the municipal slaughterhouse and a wider effort affecting backyard pigpens will also be undertaken.

As agreed the benchmark per kilo of pork will remain at 250 pesos and the lifting of the order may depend on the assessment of the line department concerned.
