The unexpected letter of Attorney Cyril Oropesa City Legal Officer to City Mayor Ester Hamor tendering his irrevocable resignation effective the last working day of February caught many by surprise.
Oropesa as focal person of the city housing program expressed his gratitude to Hamor saying that it was a rare opportunity serving the people of Sorsogon when he was assigned as. Co-Chairperson of the Taas Noo-Ciudadano Ako Mass Housing program. He said that his stint in the housing program is a lifelong dream serving the less fortunate to have a decent roof to stay for free which Hamor prioritizes
In his letter he said that he did not asked any concession nor favor from the good mayor either personally nor professionally but lamented that there are unscrupulous city hall employees that was the nail in the coffin prompting him to resign though not naming those involve.
His allegation should not be misconstrued as a complainant city legal officer and in his private capacity he intends to pursue actions to remove the corrupt employees at city hall which will drag the good reputation of city mayor Hamor.
With the revelation it is but necessary that the city administration should at least conduct a discreet investigation to save any further damage with the administration Seal of Good Housekeeping.
His February 26 letter received by CHRO the next day tendered his Irrevocable Resignation
Effective February 29, 2024.
