GUBAT, Sorsogon – In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Science and Technology, the Cota Norte Sur Fishersfolks Association members received a two-day training on how to prepare and process the rabbitfish or spinefoot known locally as ’danggit.’
The training which ended on April 29 was part of the Mechanical Drying of Danggit and other Fish Species projects of the DOST as part of its Community Empowerment through Science and Technology(CEST)program as the lecturer emphasized the importance of conserving the marine resources of the ocean.
Mayor Sharon Rose Escoto said that the training will provide an additional livelihood for the fisherfolks association they as the partner of LGU Gubat in its efforts to empower and provide opportunities to better their lives.
The popularity of danggit is the dried variety of the rabbit or spinefoot fish has the potential for export and when fried becomes crispy often eaten dipped in vinegar.
