Patient from Bicol with Delta Variant not local contamination — Bicol DOH clarifies

by Bicol Express News

Amid reports of a woman from Bicol is among those 12 new cases of highly contagious Delta Variant reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, its regional office clarified the case is not local contamination.

The source of contamination probably might be within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The DOH Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) clarifies that the said case is a Bicolano who is currently working in the NCR.

The patient is a 27 year old female from Sorsogon, who has neither travelled to Bicol for the last 3 years nor have been visited by someone from Bicol before getting sick.

Hence, the patient is not a local case of the Region.

Her specimen was taken at the Lung Center of the Philippines last June 25, 2021.

DOH Bicol reiterates that amid the threat of the Delta Variant, the Minimum Public Health Standards remain as the best preventive measures against all mutations of the virus.

Properly wear of face mask and face shield, sanitize your hands, maintain social distancing, and avoid crowded and enclosed spaces.
