Originally built as Provincial Jail and Courthouse in 1916, newly restored Museo Sorsogon is now home to Sorsogon’s historical and cultural artifacts.

Both the building’s exterior and interior designs were preserved with the old jail cells converted into galleries, each showcasing the Province’s significant historical and cultural pieces.

Guests take delight photographing the preserved wall painting of Lady Justice on the second floor, and at the mirrored wall that represents the Province’s successful attempt to get the Guinness World record for largest Filipino Folk Dance during Sorsogon’s festival, Kasanggayahan 2019.

Opening its doors last March, Museo Sorsogon was visited by 6,600 Sorsoganons and tourists (as of August) despite restrictions brought by the pandemic.

Museo Sorsogon is open Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
