The efforts to liberate if not lessen the spoils of environmental waste LGU Casiguran launch a program calling for volunteers for a community-wide clean-up drive along its rivers.
The program includes a pick-up waste strategy in tourism areas according to Angel Ayala, designated information and tourism officer.
Casiguran, said he, is promoting a friendly eco-tourism agenda to become a go tourist destination of Sorsogon.
The potential of the town rivers and estuaries is enormous, the proof is the latest attraction, “Kayaking” and to follow is the river cruise”, this was Mayor Edwin Hamor tourism plan that creates opportunities for livelihood.
He posted that call on his FB page challenging to be part of the solution to protect the environment particularly the rivers and estuaries which were propagated with fingerlings believe to be harvestable now.
The mayor is calling for an active role of the barangay officials to help achieve a near-zero rate for unwarranted waste in their areas and to initiate an information campaign on the ill effects of waste dumping along the banks of the river and into it.
