Anti-drug operatives arrested the eldest son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla in an anti-illegal drug operation launched Tuesday in Las Piñas City.

This was confirmed Thursday by Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, the Secretary’s brother, who said the Justice Secretary was already informed about his son’s arrest.

Earlier, Governor Remulla said, in a Facebook post, that Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III, who was nabbed by authorities Tuesday in Las Pinas City for alleged possession of suspected kush, is his nephew, being the eldest son of the Justice Secretary.

Justice Secretary Remulla is in Switzerland, attending the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council, and he will be back in the country on Friday.

Anti-illegal drug authorities seized from Juanito two (2) packets containing suspected kush worth around P1.3 million.

However, Secretary Remulla said, in a statement, that he is grateful to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for doing its job “without fear or favor”.

The drugs were allegedly seized during a controlled delivery conducted by an inter-agency task force to a house in Las Piñas City, where the suspect was supposedly the intended recipient.

The suspected kush allegedly came from abroad.

Juanito underwent inquest proceedings on Thursday morning.

“This is a very difficult time for me and my family, but this is nothing compared to what so many Filipinos are going through. I will respect the justice system. And I wish my son a path to redemption,” Secretary Remulla said.

The Justice Secretary said he “will not intervene nor influence my son’s predicament, and I have not done so in any way.”

“I have to abide by the Oath of Office I took when I assumed this position,” he said.
