Free online workshop on Creative Dramatics for Teachers in Sorsogon City

Kurit-Lagting Art Collective, in partnership with the Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter, will hold an online workshop for teachers in Sorsogon City on December 5, 2021 via Zoom.

The online workshop “Our Classroom’s a Little Stage: The Power of Creative Dramatics as a Teaching and Learning Tool”,  will help train teachers  gain knowledge about creative drama, and acting story creation.

They will be introduced to varied improvisation techniques which are of great use in making learners understand concepts across the curriculum and lowering their communication apprehension levels.

In a facebook post by the group, participants can register here: Learning Creative Dramatics.

“Proponents of Drama-in-education say that this technique can be used to teach any subject. However, not many teachers have the knowledge about its use and the skill to implement it as a strategy in teaching,” said Prof. Marigrace Carretero of Kurit-Lagting who will serve as speaker during the online workshop.

“As observed, many teachers would simply assign role-playing activities to students. These are  not the only means to utilize drama and to maximize its potential as a tool to enhance learning. Other drama techniques that are worth utilizing and are educational may encourage more participation in the online or face-to-face classes, hence, this webinar-workshop,”  added Mr. Totep Perez of CAP Bicol.

The online workshop is FREE but teachers are encouraged to register as early as possible due to limited slots.

The Kurit-Lagting is a collective artistic collaboration of Bicolano artists from Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate and Camarines provinces with art advocacies on human rights and the environment.

The Art Collective is a member of the Sorsogon Arts Council and the Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter.

The Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter (CAP-Bicol) is one of CAP’s newest chapters formed in October 2020, which is composed of artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers and cultural workers from various disciplines that work toward a nationalist, people-oriented art and culture.
