The killing of a public high school female principal in Polangui, Albay Province has triggered public uproar and condemnation, forcing the Department of Education (DepEd) to issue an official statement urging the police for early solution of the case and to send the perpetrators behind bars.
The female principal was shot dead in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, October 12, 2022 at her residence in Polangui.
Shot dead was Dr. Beverly Cabaltera, PhD, principal of Pio Duran National High School,Pio Duran, same province.
DepEd Region 5 ordered the Schools Division Suuperintendent of Albay to speak with local authorities and the immediate family of the victim for any assistance DepEd can offer.
Netizens are shocked that killing of women is becoming “fair game” among killers, feeling no remorse nor guilt.

October 12, 2022
We have been informed today that a shooting incident resulting to death happened in the residence of our personnel early this morning.
We condemn this act of violence against our teacher. We are deeply saddened of this tragic incident.
As soon as we learned of the incident, we notified the Schools Division Superintendent of Albay to speak with the local authorities and possibly speak with the family of the victim so we could identify what immediate assistance we can extend.
We are hoping that the swift and appropriate action of the local PNP will bring justice to the death of our personnel.
