Virac, Catanduanes is now fully upgraded for police crime fighting, prevention capability, and public safety management.
The latest upgrade is fielding 22 high definition cameras in majority of the town’s neighborhoods.
This was confirmed by Virac Mayor Sinforoso Sarmiento in media interview.
The CCTV cameras, funded under the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan of the local government annually, is paŕt of the P5-million funding to support the PNP in their needs to maintain peace and security.
Such CCTVs have the capacity to focus/read the plate numbers of vehicles and even tricycles.
Last week, LGU-Virac formally turned over 50 units of body cameras for use by police in operations.
Another drone camera unit; a sniper rifle unit; rechargeable flashlights and 300 pro batons will be distributed to various barangays of the town.
