Sorsogon City shall start imposing stricter liquor ban starting July 1 until July 30, this year.
The liquor ban shall be on 24 – hour effectivity.
This was decided Monday, June 28, by the Local Task Force on Covid-19 during a meeting via Virtual Platform.
Sorsogon City Mayor Ester Hamor signed Executive Order No. 30 effecting 24-hour liquor ban in the city.
Sorsogon City has been registering surges of more than 15 Covid-19 cases daily.
The Local Task Force identified drinking sprees among groups of people as most likely sources of virus spread, where basic health protocols are not being followed.
Mayor Hamor, in her order, specified the prohibition of selling, serving, and drinking of liquor in public places.
Restaurants can stay open to serve food, but must observe rule on 50% seating capacity.
Health enforcement personnel are instructed to impose strict implementation of the order.
