Last year’s series of typhoons had devastated homes in Tinambac, a town in the typhoon- prone 4th district of Camarines Sur, impacting townsfolk’s current economic woes that repairing their homes had been difficult and challenging.
SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express sought to alleviate their situation by providing materials for house repairs.
Tinambac Municipal Councilor Oming Velarde, together with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) identified 72 beneficiaries across different locations in Tinambac.
These are indigents whose homes were, either completely or partially destroyed, during the onslaught of last year’s typhoons.
Councilor Velarde, together with Marion Abiog and Tel Bellen, fellow members of good governance group Bangon Tinambac, received and oversaw the transport of around half a million pesos worth of shelter repair kits such as plywoods, roofings, carpentry and construction aid materials.
The shelter repair kits were targeted for distribution to beneficiaries within August, in coordination with local social welfare unit.
