The land of “Kasanggayahan” once again speaks proudly.
The newly renovated Capitol building of Sorsogon Province reclaimed its glorious past was formally inaugurated today as a masterpiece of inclusive hope of Sorsoganon.
Governor Chiz Escudero in his message points to the dreams, aspirations and fulfillment long lost when the then building was half-finished that it must stand to the testament of honor and pride for every Sorsoganon. Echoing his line that “an Puede Puede na” is over but looking forward to what is best is now the guiding paradigm
for Sorsogon. That paradigm is the ongoing re-development of the 12-hectare lot of the provincial seat of government.
After retrieving the original plan of the building from the National Archive, the challenge to complete the structure becomes a priority. But it all started with the conversion of the province jail into a museum of culture and art side by side with the renovation of the dilapidated government house.
It was designed to house all of the provincial department offices as if a “one business shop” but one marvels the inter-connected passageway of the two-story square structure showcasing a mini gallery of paintings by local and regional artists.
As if a hotel foyer, the lobby speaks of artistic elegance as the ornate railings going to the second-floor beams of ages coupled by the cavernous office spaces and the five conference rooms. The biggest of them displayed on its wall portraits of past governors testament of their leadership.
Escudero calls upon the people of Sorsogon that “Kada Sorsoganon Magdanon” gives hope and opportunity for everyone to share, to nurture local aspirations and traditions as the generation of today’s leaders’ achievement never should be the end of what Sorsogon in the future should become.
Least to forget, the atrium in the open space of the building is an innovative design same as the air-conditioned structure and for the differently-abled clients they have at their disposal the elevator at the left end of the hallway on the ground floor. (Bicol Express News)
