According to the report of the Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (SPDRRMC), it is estimated that the total damage suffered by the province of Sorsogon after Typhoon Kristine will reach more than eight hundred million (800M) pesos.

Also based on the Post Damage and Needs Analysis of the SPDRRMC, Governor Boboy Hamor requested the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for a special session this afternoon to pass the resolution for the declaration of “State Of Calamity” in the province.
It can be recalled that based on Executive Order 35-2024 previously issued by Governor Hamor, it left it up to the Local Government Units to declare a State of Calamity however, in the emergency meeting, the governor explained that because the council now holds the final report of damages sustained especially in agriculture and infrastructure from all LGUs, now it endorsed the request for declaration of State of Calamity.

Governor Hamor added that although the declaration of the State of Calamity will be official when the SP resolution is issued, he said the province is ready to respond to the people of Sorsoganon and is only asking that everyone help each other to overcome the challenge of time.
This, he said, is to quickly help the people of Sorsogon who are most affected, as well as to speed up the use of the calamity fund of each LGU.
