Rich with friends, loved by relatives, but lacking money, this vendor in Dolores, Eastern Samar won over a doctor in the mayoralty fight.
The defeated doctor is a relative of the incumbent Mayor.
Mayor-elect Rodrigo “Onoy” Rivera, 62, got 11,508 votes, higher by 562 votes over Dr. Zaldy Carpeso’s 10,946 votes.
The local Comelec proclaimed Rivera, who according to reports, only reached 2nd year high school.
Rivera, who lacked campaign funds, sought the help of countless friends and relatives.
