With the campaign period wrapping up, “kakampink” candidates in the town of Tinambac led by Councilor aspirants Marion Abiog and Oming Velarde receive the broadest popular support.

Incumbent councilor Oming Velarde is running for a second term alongside former MDRMMO officer Marion Abiog under the Anduyog Party, a political party officially endorsed and allied with President Leni Robredo.

In Tinambac, Anduyog’s slate is led by Mayoral candidate Doc Leo Cabral and Vice-Mayoral candidate Helen Sancaca Cortezano, and joined with other popular Councilor-aspirants Gin Velarde, Tel Santiano, Bax Tordilla, Awel Picaso, Jun Maño.

Oming Velarde, together with Marion Abiog, also lead the Bangon Tinambac Good Governance Movement.

As early as the onslaught of the pandemic, the two partnered in initiatives to provide aid and relief to the people and frontliners of Tinambac, and presented a platform of governance inspired by Leni Robredo’s advocacy for good governance, people’s participation, transparency and accountability.

Popular support for the two and their party was brought about by their articulation of solutions for the problems of the different sectors in Tinambac, and participation of practitioners in arts and culture all-throughout the campaign period.

It was also the first time that the people of Tinambac experienced a creative, colorful campaign, and non-traditional campaign for winning the hearts and minds.
