Sorsogon Governor Edwin Hamor in a meeting with land owners and tenants that will be affected by the construction of Sorsogon City Domestic Airport in San Roque Bacon District said that they will be properly compensated of the value of their land and for tenants’ agricultural produce before the start of the civil works of the project.
Sorsogon is the remaining province in Bicol without a domestic airport except for Albay that host an international air terminal.
The upgrading of the Bacon rural airport which for a longtime laid waste is another push to further the economic activity of the province that upon completion may entice domestic travelers to see and enjoy the wonders of Beautiful Sorsogon.
The governor assurance was a welcome relief to affected land owners and tenants’ apprehension for just compensation maybe just a lip service. In meeting the affected residents, it erased their doubt as to the sincerity of the initial dialog.
The dialog was an eye opener for residents and those whose property will be affected that the intention of the project will bring enormous economic benefits during its construction and eventual operation.
But the province resorted to legal procedure to gain access to an educational center affected within the perimeter of the total area needed to secure and operate the domestic air terminal. Bicol Express News
