The Covid 19- contaminated barge, MV TUG Clyde and Barge Claudia, arrived at Santo Domingo, Albay on Tuesday early morning, July 20.
The Coast Guard and health enforcers, who boarded the tug boat, confirmed that 11 crew members are Covid 19 positive, while 8 are negative.
Proper health measures are being undertaken in processing the patients, based on enforced protocols, that were discussed in a meeting among concerned agencies in Legazpi City yesterday.
As of yesterday, Monday, the public were expecting that the ill-fated tug boat would dock at Legazpi City port, causing apprehension and anxiety among City residents.
City Mayor Noel Rosal on Monday calmed down the public fear, assuring the tugboat /barge and crew would be handled by health quarantine experts.
The tug boat came from Butuan City, CARAGA, then sailed for Legazpi City, but while at sea, authorities in Mindanao messaged them about several crew members are Covid-19 positive.
The barge’s last port call was Indonesia, carrying materials for use by an industrial plant before stopping over at Butuan City.
The barge is owned by Nathaniel Uy of NFH Construction, Milaor, Camarines Sur.
