GUBAT, Sorsogon – The local chief executive of this town Sharon Rose Escoto sincerely proposed a new mechanism for COVID-19 information drive handled by Sorsogon Covid-19 Prevention Task Force info caravan educating minors of clustered barangays of a municipality on schedule visit.
Gubat town has 48 barangays for a clustering hosting 350 minors per info campaign was seen by the mayor as a form of mass gathering. This observation was part of her letter to Governor Chiz Escudero stressing that Gubat is one with the objective to limit the transmission of the virus respectfully declining the hosting of the municipality of the information caravan.
It noted that it adheres to IATF resolutions and the executive order of the governor and the town guidelines on how to strengthen and manage its response to the pandemic.
The letter reasoned that conducting the info caravan will expose the members of the task force and their constituents to the risk of virus transmission. It mentioned that if prevention is the goal the best strategy is to minimize exposure adding that most of the cases in the town are age 26 and above mostly exposed to LSI’s and health frontliners who tested positive of COVID-19. To invite minors for the info caravan as an information education campaign tool is now canceled after it was declined by the mayor.
Escoto assured the provincial government of its help and that of the local officials to achieve the goal of the campaign but instead of gathering people its proposal is for the task force to undertake mobile info drive social media blast guesting of task force members in radio programs distribution of flyers or online meeting via Zoom.
In the latest update of PHO for Covid-19, three members of the task force tested positive for the virus.
She added that it is of paramount concern for the health and safety of not only the Gubatnons but the people of the province.
The task force started setting up of Covid-19 information board in conspicuous places to further their aim in educating the populace.
