Newly installed Bicol Tourism Regional Director Herbie Aguas urges stakeholders and other entities to support local industries as a way to restart the slumping tourism in the region as the pandemic continued to restrict travel.
Tourism is one of the economic engines of the country but the restrictive movement of people is pinching the industry to a near-zero business because of limited patronage of tourism sites though it is gradually re-opening.
Aguas admitted that the pandemic is a big challenge in his assumption of the top tourism post in the region for LGU’s has put premiums in containing the spread of COVID-19 that tourists must comply.
Noting that domestic and foreign tourists at this time are also cautious because of restrictions imposed by regional IATF aside from the protocols laid out by the local government.
