A new health services strategy was rolled out in Castilla, Sorsogon as directed by Mayor Isagani” Bong” Mendoza after health mortality data revealed that one percent of the recorded deaths of the town are patients of the district hospital.
This was the basis of in the issuance of a Memorandum No.09-04 s. 2021 to Dr. Melquiades Boque, Municipal Health Officer by the Mayor to undertake the DOH approach of home visitation to identified critical residents who feared medical check-ups in a health care facility for fear of being infected by the COVID-19 virus and wrongly diagnosed as COVID statistic.
The approach is the Doctor To The Barrio wherein medical officers working hand in hand with barangay health workers will identify residents in need of health care for proper diagnosis and treatment aside from dispensing the right dose of medicines, and those in critical conditions that require hospitalization. It is expected that
the home visit will allay the fear of barangay residents to seek medical attention at the onset of sickness.
The idea is to at least lessen the mortality among residents especially those with comorbidity and those with symptoms as COVID related.
Mendoza gave a high premium to the health care system of the town since his assumption of office.
