Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) reported new cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOC).
This is based on the genomic sequencing result from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) received by the Bicol Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) on August 23 and August 27, 2021.
A total of seventy-one (71) variants were tagged to Bicol Region on August 23 and 27, 2021.
Of this number, Fifteen (15) were cases of UK variant (Alpha), thirty-three (33) were cases of the South African variant (Beta) and twenty-three (23) were local cases of Indian variant or the Delta variant.
