The challenge to cooperate and be an instrument of change was evident in the town of Castilla, Sorsogon after the launching of the province 7K program of the provincial governments “Kalinigan” component.
The town shifted gear from the usual street sweeping and the off-repeated “Tongod Mo Linig Mo” formula to a community-wide strategy that all our stakeholders are duty-bound to maintain a clean community.
The addition of the Eco Aide Warriors to the task group, side by side with barangay officials engaged the community’s active participation more than doubling the workforce.

From Barangay Sogoy down south to Barangay Cumadacad, the towns business hub roadside yards of residential houses along the way were again re-cleaned after the launching of the “Kanilisan” agenda recently.
The barangays of San Vicente, San Rafael, San Isidro, Milagrosa, La Union and Salvacion are also scheduled for the cleaning and clearing operation.
The coastal barangays are also on the agenda as the mayor is bent to be inclusive in its implementation.
Indeed if a leader walks his talk, the community will respond enthusiastically by actively participating. Mendoza’s presence and participation in the “Kalinigan” drive is a welcome sight among the residents of the communities. The mayors call it a challenge to “give their children a clean and abundant community to live in.”
