The process of healing between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and former Vice-president Leny Robredo was made possible by Senate President Chiz Escudero inviting former Vice- president Robredo to grace the inauguration of Sorsogon Sports Arena yesterday October 17.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr was the principal guest and in a brief moment the two former political rivals got the chance to greet each other though briefly.
Marcos won the 2022 presidential race besting Robredo while she upended Marcos in the vice-presidential contest in 2016. Robredo was part of the welcoming party for the president at the sports arena.
Escudero started the construction of the arena during his tenure as Sorsogon Governor preparatory for the province to host the Palarong Pambansa in 2020 but the pandemic scuttled the hosting.
The meeting witness by political figures here was viewed as a master stroke of Escudero in bridging the gap between the two as the midterm election may determine who’s who in national politics.
The event also put the spotlight to Sorsogon political kingpins NPC party as a coalition partner with the president party.
Robredo was with former Senator Bam Aquino i in welcoming President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
