Catanduanes native Mei Teves won as 1st runner up in the recent grand finals of Wish Covery Originals – a music contest attended by singer songwriters in the country.
Singer-writer Teves took home the award, because of her own original song and composition, titled “Anino sa Baba”, (I saw something).
Out of the hundreds who auditioned, Teves reached the grand finals of the singing competition where seven of them competed to win the championship.
Her music dominates, which according to netizens’ comments, is uplifting due to the strange emotions that Teves invokes, arouses with every recitation of the song’s lyrics.
Bicolanos, on the other hand, appreciated Teves’ inclusion of Bicol words in his music, mentioning the sentences “Igwang ilaw na gagibuning, anino sa baba. Banag, lukso! Luminayog nin paspas, nagkabit sa balagon duman sa taas.”
The Bicolana singer took home P500,000 cash prize from the said competition organized by Wish 107.5, a popular radio station in Metro Manila.
