The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in the Bicol region backtracked from its red tide warning for Sorsogon Bay, declaring that there is NO red tide.
BFAR has issued another advisory saying that Sorsogon Bay, after shellfish meat samples from it, tested NEGATIVE for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) by the BFAR-Regional Fisheries Laboratory.
BFAR-Bicol said people can continue the acquisition, sale, purchase and consumption of any shellfish in the bay, including the “alamang”.
BFAR’s earlier red tide warning had affected badly the local shellfish industry.
