SORSOGON PROVINCE – This time the focus is for the medical practitioners to expand their capabilities to cover family medicine as about 31 of them starts their residency training for family medicine when Governor Chiz Escudero tapped the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) under the guidance of Dr. Aileen Espina one of the consultants and the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH).
The residency training will enhance the capability of the district and medicare hospitals of the province with that of the provincial hospital. This is a paramount concern for the well-being and health of everyone now a top priority said the governor.
The doctors from the rural health units, district, medicare and of the provincial hospital upon completion of the residency for 3 to 4 years can lead to the upgrade of the provincial hospital as Level 3.
Family medicine doctors have comprehensive health care knowledge for people of all ages and as a division of primary care for individuals and families of all ages, genders, diseases and parts of the body offering preventive care and recommends the need to see a specialist on certain cases.
