Catanduanes authorities conducted search and rescue operation for seven (7) fishermen missing off Catanduanes seawater on Wednesday, December 1.
Two (2) of six (6) fishermen were still missing off Viga town. Two (2) survived, and the other two (2) died, said Roberto Monterola, head of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
In Baras, five (5) more fishermen were still missing, but one (1) survived.

“On Nov. 29-30, the Baras fishermen sailed with no gale warning issued by the Coastguard. Only on December 2 when the Coastguard issued gale warning. Maybe strong waves had hit them,” said Monterola.
Three (3) of the survivors had returned home.
Meanwhile, families of missing fishermen were hoping they will return home safely.
