SORSOGON CITY — The First and Second Engineering Districts of Sorsogon has not remitted 15,263,922.85 pesos as payment of the volume of SAG extracted and use for their awarded public works projects in Sorsogon.
The amount includes unpaid obligations for 2023 by ten contractors and fifteen contractors for month ending July 2024. For 2023 six of the ten are also included out of the fifteen contractors with unpaid SAG tax for 2024.
For 2023 the tax subject for remittance amounted to 2,582,879.35 and for the period ending July 2024 the unpaid obligation is 12,681,043.50.
The data was release to Bicol Express News by concerned employees of the two engineering districts on separate occasion requesting that they should not be named for fear of reprisal as they are not authorize to release the information. The contractors were not named by the informant however.
Two contractors in 2023 has unpaid SAG tax breaching half a million while in 2024 two contractors has to settle more than two million each while another contractor for that period should settle nearly two million.
The smallest amount for settlement is less than two thousand pesos.
The two engineering district for reasons of their own miserably failed to remit the tax due the province and refuses to release specific program of works for cross checking as to the actual volume utilized for the nationally funded public works projects in the province.
