Felix Espineda Jr, managing director of Bicol Express News, was elected president of Sorsogon police press corps, and with other media personalities occupying various positions.
Aiming to strengthen collaborative relationships between the Sorsogon Police Provincial Office and the local media, the Pulis Kasanggayahan Press Corps was initiated under the guidance of Police Provincial Director PCol Arturo P. Brual Jr. at Camp Salvador Escudero, Sr. yesterday.
Invited to the assembly were representatives of various media organisations in Sorsogon.
The SPPO discussed the implementation and functions of the CIRAS (Crime Information, Reporting, and Analysis System) as the e-Blotter system or the database of crime incident information as reported to police stations.
In line with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, the SPPO assigns specific personnel responsible for divulging relevant information.
Local media and other concerned individuals will then coordinate with the assigned personnel as needed.
To further streamline the interaction and exchange of factual and reliable information between the SPPO and the local media, the Interim Officers of the Pulis Kasanggayahan Press Corps were elected and commissioned to develop the framework and official guidelines that are expected to serve the objectives of both factions.
